Yamaha No. G-160 1960’s
All solid wood classical guitar from Yamaha! This guitar is from the mid 1960’s and was a very expensive guitar in its day costing 16,000 Japanese yen which was about a years salary for a college graduate at that time! It has the industrial stamp on the label that was only mandatory from 1963-1967. The top is a beautiful example of rare Ezo Spruce from the northern mountains of Japan where the short growing season yields right grain. Back and sides are solid Indian Rosewood. Expert craftsmanship from Yamaha’s best luthiers complete the package.
The guitar is in very good condition overall with a finish crack in the back (not visible from the inside) a couple of dings and a 3” finish scratch in the top (see pictures). The tuners have some corrosion consistent with age. Rosewood fretboard, mahogany neck.
The guitar plays great with excellent action and has outstanding tone you would expect from a handmade, solid wood, guitar which has naturally aged for over a half century!
