Yamaha Dynamic Guitar No.1 Super Rare! MIJ 1950’s
This is a rare piece of guitar building history! The “Dynamic Guitar” line were the first acoustic guitar models that Yamaha ever produced. It dates to the 1950’s and features the patented “Dynamic Guitar” bracing that makes this small-bodied guitar sound amazing! I do know that the patent was published in 1951. It can be used with either nylon or steel strings. All solid wood construction! The very earliest ones had a gold label, which changed to black like this one and then around 1960 to a red and white label. These guitars preceded the famous FG series. Extremely hard to find model that I picked up in Japan.
The guitar plays and sounds great. It has a sound that will surprise you considering the relatively small body size. There is some very slight buzzing on the 5th and 6th strings but I didn’t bother trying to remedy it as it didn’t bother me. There is a tight seam crack on the back and longer crack in the solid top that has been glued and cleated. It’s very stable. Aside from that there are some signs of use but the bridge is secure and the frets are decent. The tuners have been replaced, brass saddle installed (could be original as I have seen others with the same), it’s missing the end pin. Includes a vintage hard case.
