1987Tokai MAT M-603 BBR
Thisguitar is 1987 Tokai MAT (MostAdvanced Technology) M-603 BBRmade in 1987.I make no claims to be an expert on the authentication of this guitarand appreciate any corrections or additions to the information here.
Headstock:
Theheadstock is Fibertech with a contoured truss rod cover. The vintage“Deluxe” tuners are original and work well. The nut is graphiteand 1.68 inches wide. The headstock is in very good condition and ablacklight reveals no underlying damage or repairs.
Neck:
Theset neck is Fibertech and has a classic “C” profile. All 22 fretshave 0.09 inch fret height remaining and are in very good condition.The radius in 12 inches. The single action truss rod operates well.The fretboard is rosewood with a 25.5 inch scale. There is asuperficial crack on the back of the neck. A blacklight reveals nounderlying damage or repairs.
Body:
Thebody is Fibertech and the neck pocket and electrical cavities are invery good shape. The 2-point vibrato bridge and saddles work well. There isno whammy bar. String height is 2/32 inch on treble side and 3/32inch on bass side. The body has some minor chips and cracking and ablacklight reveals no damage or repairs.
Electrical:
Wiringand components are in good condition and appear to be original. Theactive HSS pickup configuration uses a low impedance buffer circuitwith a push-pull pot on the tone for the bridge humbucker. The 9Vbattery is stored in a compartment on the front of the body. Theoutput jack is location on the side. Pickup height is 2/32 inch ontreble side and 3/32 inch on bass side.
Setupwas completed with 10 gauge strings.
