Melbourne Festus Luthier Built 00 Size Parlor Fir / 100 year old Figured Oak
Melbourne Acoustic Style 00 Parlor
This is an amazing, hand-built guitar by now-retired luthier Dana Davis. It was built using very old wood for an amazing tonal experience. The guitar is super light-weight (only 3.5 pounds!) and comfortable to play in addition to it's stunning appearance. You can stare at that old oak for hours and just get lost in its stories. Below are some notes from the builder to help you understand more about this amazing instrument.
* Special note; Just a few strums and within 30 seconds you are showered with the aroma of sweet century old oak. Talk about setting the mood.
#2 of 3 in the Gunsmoke series
14 fret to body short scale
Extra Thick Cream Binding
* Builders notes: The Quartered Oak used on this instrument was recovered from an antique piece of furniture. The growth rings are so tight they can barely be counted. So we have figured wood that came from truly old growth trees and has been exposed to the air for over a century. The Douglas Fir top has been air dried for over seventy five years. What a wonderful pairing of material. Certainly one of the lightest weight guitars ever crafted at Melbourne. It's a small bundle of awesomeness, full of delightful tone. I am sure that any songwriter would find many a tune waiting to be birthed from within it's antiquity. Finished out in gloss phasing for a nice vintage visual vibe.
