Handmade Guitar Spruce / Cherry Unique! Hybrid

$999.00

This unique, handcrafted instrument comes from the workshop of Santiago Uyaguari in San Bartolome, Ecuador. Artisans have been handcrafting stringed instruments in this small village in the Andes Mountains for over 200 years! Each instrument is crafted by hand, with hand tools just as they were centuries ago. The result is a unqiue piece of art that is truly one-of-a-kind and sounds amazing!

Summit guitars and ukuleles are crafted mainly with local woods that have been selected by local luthiers based on two centuries of knowhow. Each instrument contains up to 9 different types of woods, each optimized for their specific function on the instrument. This guitar features a solid Canadian Spruce Top with Solid Cherry back and sides. The purfling and rosette are make of individual dyed pieces of wood that are inlaid by hand to make each instrument unqiue. The nut and saddle are made from real cow bone sourced from local farmers. The internal bracing is optimzied for size and placement and uses local woods such as Andean Alder and Willow to the best balance of weight and strength.

This is our unique spin on the crossover guitar It has the feel of a classical guitar with a wide nut, long scale and beefy neck but is designed for steel strings and has an adjustable truss rod! It’s wonderful to play with lots of real estate to explore, and a unique sound that only comes from steel strings. The string spacing is a bit wider than you would find on a typical steel string guitar with a 1.9" (48mm) nut width, great for classical players who want to have that "twang" that you can only get with steel strings. We imported two of these to see how the market would respond and the owner of the other one described it as “a great sounding fingerstyle players dream”.

The guitar sounds wonderful, bright and lively, with a unique tone resulting from all solid, exotic woods and the hands of skilled craftsmen. The guitar ships in a padded gig bag.

Own a piece of music history and support these artisans who make their living building guitars, just as they have for generations!
