Fernandes GC-35 Grand Concert Handmade MIJ! 1974

$699.00

This is a very special guitar, hand made by master luthier Kazuo Toshi (aka Kazuo Ichiyanagi). He is known for the process he invented which treated the wood with formaldehyde in order to improve its resonance, it became known as “Superwood”. He made these guitars for a couple of years under the Fernandes label before starting his own shop. You can buy his hand made guitars now and they range from $2000-$5000! This guitar cost 35,000 yen in 1974 or about 6 months salary for a Japanese college graduate. Top is solid spruce with a cashew French polish finish. Back and sides are either solid or a high quality laminate of all rosewood, I can’t tell for sure.

This instrument is in very good condition with some dings and strum marks in the top, a small chip in the top binding and that’s about it. See pictures. The back is in excellent shape.
